The newsletter WOSSNAME [1] features an extensive article on Pratchetty
criticism in this issue.
Apparently I am "L-Space's own Stacie Hanes." :-) [2]
One thing . . . I know a number of you have read Guilty of Literature. Don't
feel obliged, but the article mentions reviews on Amazon. If you can
honestly say you liked it, could I persuade any of you who've read it to
leave a review on Amazon?

[2] "L-Space's own Stacie Hanes, whose Master's thesis was ""Aspects of
Humanity: The Discworld Novels of Terry Pratchett" (and yes, she then went
on to her doctoral dissertation!)...well, you get the picture."

Shouldn't that be "Doctor Hanes", from the article? :)

Well . . . te tense there is problematic. I did go on to it, I'm just not
done with it.

That so *totally* works for me.

I think you're missing about three "like" and an "awesome" in there.

As always, I'm playing devil's advocate, but why the conditional "If you can
honestly say you liked it"? Currying only good reviews statistically
invalidates the whole set of reviews -- no matter how honest they are.

I imagine Stacie was trying to stop people leaving good reviews if they
*haven't* read it. Afp is easily nuts enough to spam Amazon with
embarassing gush over something they've never opened, trust me. Happened
before.

Yes, that's exactly it.
Negative reviews a refair, although it's going too far to say "please, oh
please leave us a bad review if you hated the book."
I would like more reviews. I don't want reviews which are good just because
you know me from afp. I was trying to discourage false positives.
It's not really a statistical thing. I don't see it as a set of results that
can be thrown off. There's no percentage, or whathavyou....
I'm not able to get at what I mean here, for some reason.
I'm invested in the book. That's known.
I'd like to see more reviews, and I know people here have read it. More than
the few reviews on Amazon, at the least.
I want more reviews, but I only want honest reviews from people who've read
it.
